Another fight begins, and this time the older neighboring ayllus agree to attack Qaqachaka to ascribe it to Potosí; in the fight Qaqachaka defeats everyone and with them they agree to fix the boundaries once and for all. They go to Sucre and take an oath. Upon returning to Qaqachaka, its inhabitants plant three golden hats on a key boundary as a symbol of an oath of peace with the neighboring ayllus. 2. She mentions the subsequent fights, despite this previous effort. 3. She indicates the types of guilt (jucha) and the types of mutual aid (ayni) involved. 4. Description:: SPANISH: Cesario Choque de la estancia de Urinsata es entrevistado por Juan de Dios Yapita y Denise Y. Arnold. Primero se escucha a un grupo de músicos tocando melodías tradicionales y mujeres cantando en quechua. Luego, Cesario menciona los siguientes temas: 1. Narra el Cuento del Zorro. The riddle that stands out the most from the interview is that about a pretty cholita with a pink skirt and a green sweater, what is she? A white rose. 2. Description:: SPANISH: Entrevista con Gregoria Mamani Ventala y al niño Juanito sobre algunos cuentos tradicionales. La entrevista está guiada por Elvira Espejo Ayca, la nieta de doña Gregoria. 1. Doña Gregoria Mamani Ventala narra el Cuento de la Aparición del Hueso Seleccionador llamado wich'uña para Tejer. Cuenta también a grandes rasgos de la Mentira del Perro, y de los Incas y del Canto del Gallo. 2. Luego el niño Juanito relata los cuentos del Muchacho Farsante (Pharsant Chiku), el Muchacho Flojo (Jayra Yuqalla) y del Muchachito (Yuqallitu). ENGLISH: Interview with Gregoria Mamani Ventala and a boy called Juanito about some folktales. The interview is guided by Elvira Espejo Ayca, the granddaughter of doña Gregoria. 1. Doña Gregoria Mamani Ventala narrates the Tale of the Appearance of the Bone Pick, called wich'uña, for Weaving. She also tells in broad strokes of the Lie told by the Dog, and of the Incas and the Crowing of the Rooster. 2. Then the boy Juanito tells the stories of the Boy Imposter (Pharsant Chiku), the Lazy Boy (Jayra Yuqalla) and the Little Boy (Yuqallitu).

Description:: SPANISH: Enrique Espejo Sepera habla con Juan de Dios Yapita y Denise Y. Arnold sobre las costumbres durante la fiesta de Todos Santos en Qaqachaka. Se debe realizar libaciones o ch’alla para recibir a las almas de las personas muertas. Durante las libaciones se debe mencionar los siguientes apsects de las almas: Para su papá, para su mamá, para el monte, para la cría de la serpiente (asiru qallu), para el riego (larpha), para la Señora Teresa, y para el camino (thakhi) de las almas. También hacen mención al pan de guagua (t’ant’a wawa), para los ángeles, para la cruz de San José, para la cebolla y los lirios y para el brillo de las estrellas (paqaña) que están hechas de papel. A partir de allí, se bebe para las almas abuelo (chacha achachila) y abuela (warmi achachila), y se debe empezar por el alma mayor al menor. También se realiza libaciones para el mundo de las almas olvidadas y para los doce angelitos. En el cementerio se hae brindis para el alma que está enterrada. Se debe preparar alimentos, y comenta que antes se hacía trigo, pero ahora se cocina con arroz. Después de despachar el alma, se come carne seca; y los alimentos se los reparte de mayor a menor empezando del lado de la derecha (kupi). La comida que se consume es para el estómago del alma. Cuando se inicia a beber la cerveza de cebada (k’usa) se inicia diciendo para Mustramu o Nuestro amo, Nuestra Señora y para el alma. Menciona que hay que hacer rezar todo lo que se prepara para la llegada de las almas, y que los panes (t’ant’a wawa) son los muertos, y su comida y bebida. Se debe colocar también cebollas y lirios para hacer el camino de las almas. ENGLISH: Enrique Espejo Sepera converses with Juan de Dios Yapita and Denise Y. Arnold about the customs during the Feast of the Dead in Qaqachaka. Libations or ch'alla must be made to receive the souls of dead people. During these libations it is necessary to mention the following aspects of these dead souls: For his father, for his mother, for the woodlands, for the young serpent (asiru qallu), for the irrigation (larpha), for Lady Teresa, and for the path (thakhi) of the souls. He also mention the bread babies (t'ant'a wawa) made for the angels, for the cross of Saint Joseph, for the onions and the lilies, and for the brightness of the stars (paqaña) that are made of paper. From there, you drink for the souls of the grandfather (chacha achachila) and grandmother (warmi achachila), and you must start from the oldest soul going to the youngest. Description:: SPANISH: Una mujer joven de 21 años, describe a Juan de Dios Yapita y Denise Y. Arnold su embarazo, su parto y sus cuidados. Ella cuenta que durante su embarazo aun asistió a la escuela, y seguía pasando educación física donde realizaba los ejercicios que el profesor les indicaba. Comenta que se dio cuenta que estaba embarazada (usuri) cuando le daba asco algunos alimentos como el fideo y el arroz. Cuenta que su embarazo fue accidental, que su pareja era estudiante de secundaria y ella de primaria. Explica que ella seguía realizando sus trabajos cotidianos con la intención de abortar de manera espontánea, y que escuchaba decir que los mates de ortiga (atapillu) eran abortivos. Durante el trabajo de parto (usuyasiña) su mamá fue quién le ayudó dándole a beber mate de orégano y grasa de víbora (katari) para que su trabajo de parto fuera más fácil. Durante el parto comenta que ella se desmayó por un lapso de media hora en que su mamá le realizo la técnica del masajeado (qaquri). Luego de revivir, le dieron a beber café y chocolate. Cuenta que su bebé (wawa) fue recibido en una manta o awayu y que le dieron a beber un poco de vino y después de un día le dio de lactar, y fue bañado con agua de rosas. Cuenta sobre el nacimiento de la placenta, que es igual que el parto, y que se debe enterrar en la puerta. Explica sobre el cuidado de la fontanela (phuju) del recién nacido. Habla sobre los cuidados que tuvo para no tener sobreparto, por ejemplo, de no tocar agua. Y habla sobre las causas de la muerte durante el parto, las creencias sobre el nacimiento de los mellizos, y acerca del centro de salud. ENGLISH: A 21-year-old young woman describes to Juan de Dios Yapita and Denise Y. Arnold her pregnancy, delivery and care. She recounts that during her pregnancy she still attended school, and she continued to pass physical education where she did the exercises that the teacher indicated. She comments that she found out that she was pregnant (usuri) when she was disgusted by some foods like noodles and rice. She says that her pregnancy was accidental, that her partner was a high school student and she was in elementary school. She explains that she continued doing her daily work with the intention of aborting spontaneously, and that she heard that nettle tea (atapillu) was an abortifacient. During her labor (usuyasiña) her mother was the one who helped her by giving her drink mate of oregano and snake fat (katari) so that her labor would be easier. During the delivery, she comments that she fainted for a period of half an hour when her mother performed the massage technique (qaquri). After reviving her, she was given coffee and chocolate to drink. She tells that her baby (wawa) was received in a blanket or awayu and that they gave her a little wine to drink and after a day she nursed him, and he was bathed with rose water. She talks about the birth of the placenta, which is like a childbirth, and that the placenta must be buried at the house door. She explains about the care of the fontanel (phuju) of the newborn. She tells about the care she took to avoid giving birth, for example, not to touch water. And she talks about the causes of death during childbirth, the beliefs about the birth of twins, and about the health center.

Una conversación típica de una persona con otra cuando llega al pueblo de Qaqachaka. 2. La producción agrícola. 3. La variedad en la producción de la papa. 4. La comercialización de la papa y los viajes que hacían con caravanas de llamas, para cambiar papas por dinero. 5. El aprendizaje del tejido de parte de las mujeres. Cuenta que las niñas desde muy temprana edad empiezan a tejer sujetadores de faja o trenzitas (tirinsa), las fajas angostas llamadas t'isnu, y los paños de coca llamados inkuña. 6. Las fiestas de Concepción, Candelaria, Pascua, San Juan y la fiesta de la Cruz. 7. Los alimentos que consumian en las fiestas de los santos locales.
