Notes
- Description
- The tall and dark plumes of smoke fill the cloudy sky as several reservoirs containing hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil were set afire by lightning at the Brea tank farm of the Union Oil Company. The photo was taken from a nearby fruit grove and the soil appears to be flooded by the oil. Reported in "SECOND TANK FARM AFIRE; LOSSES REACH $18,000,000," The San Francisco Examiner, 09 Apr. 1926: 1.
